Karthikeyan Ulaganathan, known to all of his friends and customers as 'Shekar', hails from Karaikudi in South India. He moved to Belize nearly 20 years ago and initially worked at Sumathi in Belize City, before moving to Belmopan to establish his own restaurant. Like many who visit Belize, Shekar fell in love with the country and connected immediately with members of the East Indian community residing in Belmopan and Toledo. Today, they are frequent visitors to his restaurant, along with people from all races and walks of life, where they delight in authentic Indian cuisine along with dishes of Shekar's own invention (created by fusing traditional Indian recipes with fresh, local Belizean ingredients and recipes).
